Time for a Smart Home Upgrade!
For years, my smart home has been running smoothly on an old laptop with Debian OS and Home Assistant Supervisor. It's been a game-changer, making life easier with its automated routines. But lately, the laptop's battery has started swelling, and I'm worried it might give out soon.
So, I've decided it's time for an upgrade to dedicated hardware without a built-in battery. Instead of just moving everything over, I'm starting fresh. A lot has changed with Home Assistant, and my setup has some outdated stuff anyway, so a clean slate seems like the way to go.
I've got a new mini computer, the Beelink EQ12 N100, and I'll be installing Home Assistant OS on it instead of the supervisor. I also wanted to upgrade my zigbee adapter for better performance.
But, there's been a snag. I accidentally bought the wrong version of the SONOFF ZBDongle. The one I got, the E version, is a bit experimental and doesn't work well with all my sensors, especially the Aqara ones.
So, I'm putting things on hold until I can get the right dongle, the P version, which should work smoothly according to Zigbee2Mqtt's documentation.
Despite this hiccup, I'm excited about the upgrade. It's a chance to make my smart home even smarter and more reliable. I'll keep you updated on how it goes!
